North African Fans Unite in Manchester for World Cup Excitement

Community Spirit as Fans Rally for World Cup Matches

In Greater Manchester, a vibrant community of North African football enthusiasts is gearing up for an exhilarating World Cup showdown featuring Egypt and Morocco against Argentina and France. Among them are Maz and Ingy, an Egyptian couple from Cheadle, who are excitedly preparing to host a gathering of friends for the highly anticipated quarter-final match against Argentina. Maz, a pharmacist and dual national, expressed his delight in witnessing both England and Egypt progress in the tournament, feeling fortunate to support two teams in such a thrilling competition. "I feel incredibly lucky, if anything a little bit spoiled, to not only be able to support and cheer for both teams, but watch them shine," he remarked. The couple plans to bring together fellow 'Egyptian Mancunians' for a lively watch party, complete with snacks and team jerseys, as they eagerly anticipate the iconic duel between Mohamed Salah and Lionel Messi.

Ingy, who works as a marketing manager, shared her sentiments about the unexpected success of the Egyptian national team, noting the newfound hope it has instilled among supporters. "We did not expect to go that far in the tournament, but now we are given hope that we can actually go even further," she said, highlighting how gathering with fellow fans in Manchester alleviates the homesickness experienced while living abroad.

Excitement Builds for Upcoming Matches

Another passionate fan, Ahmad, a facilities manager residing in Urmston, plans to watch Egypt's match at home with his English wife, expressing his hope for a potential semi-final clash between England and Egypt, which he sees as a win-win scenario. Ahmad typically enjoys the match atmosphere in Rusholme and intends to return there to support Morocco in their quarter-final match against France. Meanwhile, Manal, a 26-year-old Moroccan living in Manchester, is also backing Egypt in their battle against Argentina. Working remotely allows her to dedicate her afternoon to cheer for her team, as she prepares to travel to London to join friends for the Morocco game, where a larger Moroccan community awaits.
