The National Agency for Water and Forests, in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Hunting Federation, officially inaugurated the 2026-2027 hunting season on Friday, October 2, at the Conference Palace in Marrakech. This year's theme, "Tourist Hunting in Morocco: A Natural Wealth and Sustainable Development," aims to promote the rational management of wildlife resources and advance the sector.

The event was presided over by the Director General of the agency, Abdel Rahim Houmi, and the President of the Royal Federation for Hunting, Ahmed Moussaoui. During the gathering, they reviewed the results of the previous season, which saw participation from over 65,000 Moroccan hunters and approximately 5,000 tourist hunters. Furthermore, the area leased for hunting increased to 4.39 million hectares across 1,737 hunting blocks.

The conference highlighted the growing dynamics of tourist hunting in the kingdom, supported by 146 specialized companies. Emphasis was placed on diversifying service offerings and introducing modern practices such as bow hunting. Additionally, a comprehensive presentation was made regarding the prospects for developing the rich hunting heritage in the Marrakech-Safi region.

The event also featured the launch of the publication "Gibiers emblématiques du Maroc," which aims to introduce national game species. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to experienced hunters in the region, and practical workshops were organized to discuss methods for developing hunting products and enhancing the attractiveness of hunting tourism on an international level.

Participants visited one of the leased hunting areas to observe the available facilities and services. A practical simulation of releasing partridges was conducted as part of a collective hunting exercise, along with demonstrations on organizing activities and developing bow hunting techniques.

The communiqué concluded with a reaffirmation from both the agency and the federation of their commitment to promoting responsible and ethical hunting, aligning with the objectives of the "Forests of Morocco 2020-2030" strategy. They called upon all stakeholders and hunters to actively engage in protecting biodiversity and enhancing rural areas.
