Orange Morocco's Commitment to the Gaming Industry

In response to the rapid growth of mobile gaming and the increasing prominence of eSports competitions, the Moroccan video game market is attracting significant attention from technological stakeholders. Orange Morocco aims to position itself as a key player in this burgeoning industry through dedicated initiatives that nurture talent and foster community engagement. During the Morocco Gaming Expo 2026, held from May 20 to May 24 in Rabat, Orange Morocco unveiled several partnerships and initiatives designed to bolster the growth of gaming and eSports within the country. The telecommunications operator seeks to enhance its presence in a rapidly expanding sector fueled by rising digital usage and the growing interest among youth in video game competitions and interactive content.

One of the cornerstone initiatives is the launch of the "Orange eSport Scholarship," developed in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games. This program aims to support five eSports associations located outside the main urban centers of Casablanca and Rabat, thereby promoting the emergence of new talent in rural regions. Furthermore, Orange Morocco has partnered with Team xProjekt, making it the first telecommunications operator in the country to officially sponsor a national eSports team, which currently boasts 29 players across various competitive disciplines. This pioneering move not only enhances Orange's visibility in the eSports arena but also signifies a growing recognition of the competitive gaming landscape in Morocco.

Driving Digital Culture and Economic Growth

Moreover, the operator announced additional initiatives centered around digital culture and gamification. The Orange Foundation, alongside journalist Nadia Larguet, introduced a digitized version of the game "1001 Questions about Morocco," now integrated into the MaxIt app. Through these projects, the group aims to merge gaming, educational content, and mobile usage to engage younger audiences on digital platforms. This strategic shift occurs amid a significant surge in gaming popularity in Morocco and North Africa as a whole. According to the "State of the African Video Game Industry 2026" report by SpielFabrique, published in January 2026, the annual revenues of this sector are projected to reach approximately $227.3 million in Morocco by 2024. The country currently ranks among the most dynamic video game markets in Africa, propelled by a young population, the rise of mobile gaming, and the gradual enhancement of digital infrastructures. The rollout of fiber optics, along with 4G and 5G technologies, is further accelerating online gaming, streaming, and eSports competitions.

These new collaborations align with Morocco's strategy to develop a robust national gaming and eSports industry. Moroccan authorities now view this sector as a catalyst for growth in the digital economy, creative industries, and youth employment. The kingdom aspires to increase its annual video game industry revenue from approximately $200 million today to $3 billion by 2030-2032, with the goal of capturing nearly 1% of the global gaming market. This ambitious vision underscores the potential of gaming as a significant contributor to economic development in Morocco.
