Major Urban Rehabilitation Initiative in Aoulouz
The urban rehabilitation project for the center of Aoulouz, located in the Taroudant province, has officially commenced, marking a significant step towards enhancing local infrastructure and improving the urban landscape. Launched in a ceremony attended by key officials, including the governor of the province, Mabrouk Tabet, this ambitious initiative is backed by a budget of 120.9 million dirhams (MDH). The project's primary objective is to revitalize the downtown area of the commune while boosting its economic and social appeal through a series of actions designed to upgrade infrastructure and enhance public spaces.
This comprehensive program focuses on revitalizing the streets and main thoroughfares of Aoulouz. Efforts will include upgrading the road network, reinforcing infrastructure, enhancing public spaces, and renovating underprivileged neighborhoods. These developments are crucial for transforming Aoulouz into a more attractive and accessible urban center.
The implementation of this project is a collaborative effort involving multiple stakeholders, including the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, the National Land Use Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy Ministry, as well as the Souss-Massa Regional Council and the municipal council of Aoulouz. Notably, the companies Al Omrane Souss-Massa and Souss-Massa Agadir Aménagement have been designated to handle significant portions of the urban rehabilitation project, ensuring that the work is conducted effectively and efficiently.
According to Hicham El Faleh, the General Director of Al Omrane Souss-Massa, this program represents a key development initiative aimed at addressing the challenges of emerging urban centers and enhancing their attractiveness. He emphasized that Al Omrane's involvement is centered on implementing part of the urban rehabilitation program while adopting a technical approach that considers the local development needs and aims to improve the living conditions of residents.
Additionally, the program includes a development component for the agricultural sector, which encompasses the establishment of roads within irrigation areas. This initiative is designed to enhance accessibility, alleviate isolation for farming operations, and stimulate agricultural activities within the region, contributing to the overall economic growth of the area.
