Significant Business Growth in Marrakech
In 2025, the Marrakech-Safi region witnessed a remarkable increase in entrepreneurship, with a total of 12,341 new businesses established, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property. This surge in business activity highlights the region's potential for economic growth and development.
The data from the office's general dashboard indicates that the new businesses are predominantly split between legal entities, accounting for 9,918 companies, and individual entrepreneurs, totaling 2,423. The city of Marrakech led this entrepreneurial growth with 9,614 new establishments, followed by Safi with 949, Qalaat Sraghna with 527, Essaouira with 526, and the other regions of Rhamna, Chichaoua, and Youssefiyya contributing smaller numbers.
Sector Distribution and Legal Structure
Analyzing the sectors of activity, the trade sector emerged as the largest contributor, making up 27.34% of the total new businesses, followed closely by the construction and real estate sector at 24.67%. Other significant sectors included various services at 20.12%, hospitality and restaurants at 10.24%, and transport at 6.41%. The industrial sector constituted 5.58%, while the information and communication technology sector represented 2.65%, with financial activities and agriculture accounting for 1.84% and 1.46% respectively.
Concerning the legal structure of the new businesses, 63.9% were registered as single-member limited liability companies, followed by traditional limited liability companies at 35.4%. Other legal forms, including anonymous companies, accounted for only a small fraction of the total.
On a national scale, by the end of 2025, Morocco saw the establishment of 109,656 new businesses, distributed between legal entities (78,622) and individuals (31,034). The Casablanca-Settat region topped the list with 33,959 new companies, followed by Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima with 15,286, and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra with 13,983, demonstrating a strong entrepreneurial spirit across the country.
