Significant Return of Migrants in Ceuta
In a notable development, over 300 migrants have opted for a voluntary return to Morocco following the recent evacuation carried out by Spanish authorities at an informal encampment located near the former Guano factory in Ceuta. Reports from Spanish media, citing security sources, indicated that these individuals were initially taken to a temporary accommodation center for foreigners where their identities were verified. Out of approximately 500 individuals involved in this operation, those who expressed their desire to return to Morocco underwent a process of data registration and were briefed on the necessary procedures specific to their situations.
Moreover, nearly 70 of the evacuated individuals have sought international protection, while around 30 have been identified as minors, according to the same reports. This operation, executed by the National Police, took place early on a Sunday morning and aimed to dismantle the last major informal camp that had been present in the city since the mass influx of migrants that occurred on July 30 and 31. This action follows the evacuation of similar camps in the preceding weeks, reflecting the ongoing efforts by authorities to manage the migrant situation in Ceuta effectively.
