Significant Growth in Business Creation in Morocco
According to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), a remarkable total of 60,908 businesses were established in Morocco during the first seven months of 2026. This surge in entrepreneurship reflects the growing dynamism of the Moroccan economy, which has seen a diverse array of new ventures emerging across various sectors.
Of these newly formed businesses, 45,898 are classified as legal entities, while 15,010 are individual enterprises. The preference for legal structures among business creators is evident, as the Sole Proprietorship Limited Liability Company (SARL AU) remains the most popular choice, accounting for 65% of all legal registrations. Following closely is the Limited Liability Company (SARL), which constitutes 33.9% of new registrations.
Regional Highlights and Sector Distribution
Geographically, the Casablanca-Settat region leads the country in business establishment, contributing 39.3% of all new legal entities. This is followed by the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region at 14.5%, Marrakech-Safi at 12.3%, and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima at 10.8%. Collectively, these four regions account for a staggering 76.9% of all new business formations across Morocco.
In terms of sectoral distribution, the newly created legal entities predominantly engage in commerce, representing 27.22% of registrations. This is followed by construction and real estate activities at 25.28%, various services at 20.03%, transport at 7.63%, and manufacturing at 6.3%. For individual enterprises, the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region tops the list with 20.6% of registrations, trailed by Casablanca-Settat at 13.2% and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra at 10.7%.
Additionally, the OMPIC issued 77,883 commercial names (negative certificates) from January to July 2026, further indicating the rise in entrepreneurial activity within the country.
