Significant Business Growth in Fes-Meknes

In a remarkable development for the Fes-Meknes region, a total of 7,454 new businesses were established in 2025, as reported by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property. This surge in entrepreneurial activity reflects a growing trend within the region that is encouraging economic diversification and job creation. The new companies are categorized into two main types: 4,758 are corporate entities, while 2,696 are individual enterprises.

The city of Fes leads the way with the establishment of 3,350 new businesses, followed by Meknes with 2,440, Taza with 528, Sefrou with 332, Taounate with 279, Azrou with 190, and Boulemane with 135. This distribution showcases the vibrant entrepreneurial landscape across various towns within the region, indicating a robust local economy.

Sectoral Insights and Legal Structures

When examining the sectors contributing to this entrepreneurial boom, the trade sector dominates, accounting for an impressive 36.21% of the new businesses. Following closely is the construction and public works sector at 21.63%, and various service activities represent 15.44%. Other sectors, including industry, transportation, hospitality, agriculture, finance, and information technology, each contribute varying degrees to the overall business landscape, highlighting a diverse economic engagement.

Regarding the legal structures of these new businesses, 59.3% are classified as single-member limited liability companies (SARL-AU), while 40.1% are standard limited liability companies. Other legal forms account for a mere 0.3%, and anonymous companies represent a minimal 0.2%. This legal framework supports a growing entrepreneurial spirit, providing avenues for both individuals and corporations to participate in the economy.

On a national scale, the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property reports that a total of 109,644 businesses were established across Morocco last year. The Fes-Meknes region ranks sixth in terms of new business establishments, following the Casablanca-Settat region, which leads with 33,959 new businesses. This data not only reflects the vibrant economic environment but also the potential for continued growth and development within the Fes-Meknes region.
