Historic Home in Marrakech Partially Collapses
On the morning of March 23, a portion of an ancient house in the "Riad Al-Zaytoun" neighborhood of Marrakech's old city suddenly collapsed, triggering a wave of panic among residents and bringing traffic to a complete standstill in the narrow alleyways. Eyewitness reports indicate that the incident was caused by significant portions of the walls and ceilings of the dilapidated structure giving way, which resulted in the full closure of the passage due to the accumulation of debris, complicating movement within the tight streets that define the urban fabric of the historic city.
Fortunately, the incident did not result in any loss of life, according to the same sources. However, it did cause material damage to some neighboring homes, leading to visible cracks in their walls and damage to their facades. Following the notification of the event, local authorities, security personnel, and civil protection teams promptly arrived at the scene. They cordoned off the area surrounding the collapse and prohibited public access as a precautionary measure, while also initiating operations to secure the site and clear the debris.
