Petition to Suspend Paid Appointments at BLS Rabat

Urgent Call for Action Against Unfair Visa Appointment Fees

In a growing movement, residents of the consular district of the Spanish Consulate in Rabat are petitioning for the immediate suspension of paid appointments at the BLS International Visa Center. This petition highlights a series of grievances that have left many citizens feeling trapped in a system that prioritizes profit over equitable access to essential public services. With only 36 signatures collected so far, reaching 64 signatures will significantly boost the petition's visibility on social networks, urging necessary reforms.

The petition, addressed to the Spanish Consul General in Rabat, outlines the severe frustrations faced by applicants. One of the most pressing issues is the exorbitant cost associated with the so-called "home service" appointments, which are priced at 1750 dirhams. This practice has been described as a forced sale, compelling individuals to pay hefty fees to exercise their fundamental right to submit visa applications. As standard appointment slots remain perpetually unavailable online, citizens are left with no choice but to resort to these costly alternatives.

Furthermore, signatories accuse BLS International of directly contributing to the proliferation of black market intermediaries. The lack of a chronological and transparent waiting list exacerbates the situation, allowing only those who can afford premium services to secure their appointments. This has resulted in a perception of a deliberately flawed system that favors the few while leaving the majority in a state of uncertainty.

In addition to these financial concerns, the petitioners express their dissatisfaction with the overall treatment of applicants at the BLS center. Complaints about the disrespectful behavior of staff and the unsatisfactory conditions within the facility have been noted. The current operational setup, which utilizes an inadequate apartment for handling large volumes of visa applications, has been criticized for not meeting basic public service standards. Applicants often find themselves waiting outside for extended periods, leading to humiliation and frustration.

To address these issues, the petition calls for several critical changes, including: the immediate suspension of privileges for paid appointments until a functional system for standard appointments is established; the provision of suitable facilities that meet user expectations; the implementation of an official waiting list managed by the BLS website to diminish reliance on intermediaries; and an independent investigation into BLS Rabat's pricing practices and management of applicant flows.

The petitioners argue that the current management of BLS is damaging the reputation of the Spanish administration in Morocco and urgently seek intervention to restore dignity and equality for all visa applicants. As citizens rally for these changes, they encourage widespread participation and support for the petition to ensure their voices are heard.
