Significant Drug Bust in Rabat
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced on Sunday, September 27, that the criminal gangs fighting brigade, part of the Prefectural Judicial Police of Rabat, has apprehended a police officer stationed in the city along with his sister. Both are suspected of having possessed, transported, and distributed narcotics and psychotropic substances. This operation resulted in the seizure of 5,150 psychotropic tablets and 45 grams of cocaine from a light vehicle that was stopped on the highway connecting Tangier to Rabat.
The police acted in close coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), which oversees internal intelligence. Upon immobilizing the vehicle, officers conducted a thorough search and discovered not only the drugs but also a considerable amount of cash in the national currency.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Further investigations led the authorities to the sister of the police officer, who was apprehended in Aïn Aouda, located on the outskirts of Rabat. She is believed to have ordered the shipment of narcotics and psychotropic substances for distribution. Both the police officer and his sister are currently in custody, awaiting further judicial inquiry as directed by the relevant prosecutor's office. Investigators are tasked with reconstructing the circumstances surrounding this case and identifying any potential connections related to this criminal activity.
In line with administrative procedures applicable to police personnel suspected of involvement in criminal acts, the DGSN has also temporarily suspended the implicated officer from his duties.
