On Sunday, August 16, a police inspector from the motorcycle unit of the Agadir Security Directorate was compelled to use his service weapon during a security operation aimed at detaining a 24-year-old individual with a criminal record. This suspect is believed to be involved in a case concerning theft and causing property damage, as he posed a serious and imminent threat to public safety and the well-being of police officers by wielding a bladed weapon.
The Agadir Security Directorate's control room received reports of three individuals committing thefts from three vehicles parked near the central market, resulting in material damages. In response, police patrols were dispatched to the scene to apprehend the suspects.
During this intervention, one of the suspects, who was caught at the scene, violently resisted police officers with the weapon in his possession, putting their physical safety at significant risk. Consequently, the police inspector was forced to use his service weapon as a precautionary measure, firing warning shots before injuring the suspect in his lower extremities. This action successfully neutralized the threat posed by the individual and led to his arrest, as well as the recovery of the knife used in the assault. The suspect has since been placed under medical supervision at a regional hospital, awaiting a judicial investigation overseen by the competent public prosecutor's office. This investigation aims to uncover all circumstances and details surrounding the incident and to identify the criminal acts attributed to him, while also continuing research and inquiries to apprehend other individuals involved in this case.
