Political Consultation Initiated in Morocco

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, Fatima Zahra Mansouri, the appointed head of government responsible for forming the new cabinet, announced that the invitation for political consultation has been extended to all political parties represented in the parliament. During a press briefing following the second day of consultations, Mansouri emphasized that the choice to attend and participate remains a sovereign decision for each political entity. Her initiative to engage with the entire political spectrum stems from the principle that "what unites us is our nation," underscoring the importance of dialogue as a fundamental pillar of democratic practice.

This statement came in response to inquiries regarding the absence of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) from the consultations. Mansouri clarified that communication had taken place with all parliamentary forces, while respecting each party's freedom to determine its position and approach regarding this round of discussions. Earlier, PJD Secretary-General Abdelilah Benkirane expressed reservations about attending the meeting at the headquarters of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), indicating his disagreement with the location of the consultations despite welcoming the initiative itself.
