Prince Moulay El Hassan Unveils the Iconic Mohammed VI Tower in Salé

Inauguration of the Mohammed VI Tower by Prince Moulay El Hassan

On the orders of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay El Hassan inaugurated the magnificent Mohammed VI Tower on the banks of the Bouregreg River this past Monday. Standing at an impressive height of 250 meters, this architectural marvel has become a symbol of modernity and a beacon of progress for the twin cities of Rabat and Salé.

During the inauguration, Prince Moulay El Hassan toured various sections of the tower, including the main lobby where he observed presentations detailing the building’s impressive design and the Moroccan artisanal materials used in its construction. The tour also included spaces designated for conferences and a library, all showcasing the innovative features of this new landmark. Additionally, he visited a model apartment and the luxurious Waldorf Astoria hotel, concluding his visit at the tower's observation deck, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of both cities, highlighting the historical kasbahs and ancient city walls that narrate the rich heritage of the region.

A Modern Marvel with Sustainable Features

The Mohammed VI Tower, which dominates the Rabat skyline with its sleek design and advanced engineering, is a key component of the Bouregreg Valley development project. This initiative is part of the broader "Rabat City of Light, the Moroccan Capital of Culture" program, launched under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI. Developed by O Capital Group, the tower will house luxury accommodations, office spaces, residences, and retail establishments, all interconnected by 36 elevators for enhanced accessibility.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the tower features deep foundations reaching 60 meters, ensuring stability against seismic activity and flood risks. It incorporates a state-of-the-art harmonic damper system to mitigate wind-induced movements and seismic vibrations, guaranteeing comfort for residents on higher floors. The tower's dual façades include one equipped with dynamic lighting and another with photovoltaic panels, reflecting best practices in eco-construction and cutting-edge technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency, aligning with Morocco's commitments to sustainable development.

Furthermore, the Mohammed VI Tower has advanced energy recovery systems and rainwater harvesting capabilities, which have earned it LEED Gold and HQE certifications, positioning it among Africa's most innovative and high-performing structures. The inauguration was marked by a ceremonial review of the Royal Guard, with Prince Moulay El Hassan being welcomed by regional dignitaries and representatives from O Capital Group.
