Rabat Science Festival: Innovation Driving Health Solutions

Rabat Hosts the Science Festival Focused on Health Innovations

The 4th edition of the Rabat Science Festival commenced on April 23, 2026, at the National Higher Institute of Music and Choreographic Arts (INSMAC), with a central theme focused on health efficacy. Organized by the Ribat Al Fath Association, this event aims to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and public awareness, running until April 25. The festival gathers researchers, students, and general attendees for an array of workshops, lectures, and scientific innovations, with a strong emphasis on digitalization, health sovereignty, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

A Public-Oriented Scientific Gathering

Since its inception, the Rabat Science Festival has aimed to make science more accessible to the general public. Hosted at INSMAC, the festival embodies a commitment to democratizing scientific knowledge by offering engaging and interactive educational formats. The event features a series of activities designed to overcome traditional teaching methods in science. Participatory workshops led by students, university clubs, and specialized associations address pressing health system issues using clear and practical language.

The festival's centerpiece, the “Science Village,” was inaugurated to showcase over 25 booths where universities, institutes, and associations present various projects and innovations. These range from robotics and artificial intelligence to virtual reality and aerospace sciences. This setup not only highlights young talents but also encourages dialogue between the academic world and the public, allowing visitors to discover tangible applications of scientific research and engage directly with their creators.

In addition to exhibitions, the festival features a robust scientific program. A plenary session addressed the role of research and digitalization in establishing health sovereignty, followed by a colloquium discussing the evolution of scientific communication practices, which brought together researchers and experts from diverse fields. These discussions spotlight contemporary challenges regarding access to healthcare, technological innovation, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge, emphasizing the need to rethink knowledge transmission methods in the digital age.

During the opening remarks, Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, acknowledged the significant strides made in the national health system. He highlighted the enhancement of training capacities and the modernization of infrastructures as pivotal transformation factors. He articulated a vision structured around three fundamental pillars: universal access to health services, strengthening health sovereignty, and integrating technological innovations. The minister also stressed the importance of developing telehealth services, improving emergency response, and modernizing intervention methods to ensure prompt and equitable healthcare delivery.

Badr Eddine Benamrou, the Secretary General of Ribat Al Fath, noted that this edition coincides with the 40th anniversary of the organization and emphasized that the festival is rooted in a comprehensive vision centered on four key areas: scientific outreach, ethical considerations of technological changes, technological sovereignty, and data-driven foresight. He underscored the critical role of localized digitalization in enhancing health efficacy, advocating for the development of telemedicine and the integration of embedded technologies as essential tools in addressing sector challenges.

By uniting high school students, engineering students, and researchers, the Rabat Science Festival serves as a pivotal meeting point for education and innovation. It fosters the emergence of a shared scientific culture and strengthens the connections between academic research and national development needs. Beyond exhibitions and lectures, the event also plans thematic colloquiums focusing on artificial intelligence, health technologies, and medical physics, along with awarding trophies to participating clubs to recognize the commitment and creativity of youth.
