Exciting New Addition for Racing Santander
Chema Aragón, the sporting director for Racing Santander, is on the verge of finalizing a loan deal for the promising Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri from Stade Rennes. The 21-year-old player, who made a significant impact during the recent U-20 World Cup, is expected to enhance the team's attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season. The French club Stade Rennes secured Zabiri’s services in February 2026 for a hefty sum of 10 million euros from Famalicão, a top-flight team in Portugal, and he is contracted with them until June 30, 2029.
Aragón has consistently demonstrated his willingness to invest in young talent, disregarding age and experience, as seen through his previous signings such as Vivian, Camello, Roro Riquelme, Iván Martín, and even Peio Canales for the next season. His latest target, Yassir Zabiri, hails from Marrakech and is known for his left-footed prowess, standing at 1.82 meters with impressive speed. Zabiri has already made strides on the international stage, representing Morocco in a friendly match against Burundi prior to the World Cup, where he played approximately 20 minutes.
Prior to his debut at the senior level, Zabiri showcased his skills with the Moroccan U-23 and U-20 teams. He was a key player in the U-20 World Cup, where he scored five goals, earning him a share of the top scorer title alongside three other players. His arrival would bolster a forward line that currently features Asier Villalibre and Juan Carlos Arana as traditional strikers. Moreover, talents like Giorgi Guliashvili and Santi Franco, who has been training with the first team, could also provide additional depth in the attacking unit.
