Rayan Zinebi to Represent Morocco in Mediterranean Games
Granada CF's forward, Rayan Zinebi, has received a call-up from the Moroccan national team to participate in the upcoming Mediterranean Games, set to take place this summer. The young striker, who has been alternating between the first team and the reserve squad, will join the U20 selection as they head to Taranto, Italy, for this prestigious tournament. The competition is scheduled to run from Saturday, August 21, to Thursday, September 3. During this period, Zinebi will be unavailable for Granada's squad, meaning he will miss several league matches.
The North African team has been drawn into Group A, where they will face Turkey on Saturday, August 22, Tunisia on Monday, August 24, and North Macedonia on Wednesday, August 26. This initial phase coincides with Granada's home match against Mallorca on the following Monday, a game from which Zinebi will be absent. Should Morocco advance past the group stage, he could also miss the Andalusian derby against Córdoba on Sunday, August 30.
Notably, Zinebi was not included in coach Pacheta's squad for the league opener against Oviedo, as the manager opted for players Jorge Pascual, Alejandro Marqués, and the newly promoted Chinaza. The forward's involvement in future Segunda Division matches remains uncertain, and he may continue to train with the first team under Pacheta's guidance.
