Recent Developments in the Case of a High School Inspector Accused of Harassment in Fes
Recent reports have emerged regarding a high school inspector from the regional education authority in Fes, Morocco, who has been involved in a case concerning allegations of sexual harassment against a social studies teacher. According to sources, the criminal court in Fes decided to postpone the hearing until November 13, in order to summon the complainant, who had previously submitted a retraction of their complaint, as well as to call in witnesses. The prosecutor's office is currently pursuing the case against the inspector, who has been released on bail. The charges include sexual harassment through electronic messages and recordings of a sexual nature, as well as soliciting prostitution.
According to an educational source, the decision to allow the inspector to remain free was influenced by health considerations and the fact that the teacher had agreed to retract their complaint, which had already been addressed by the judicial police. Reports indicate that the harassment involved the inspector soliciting sexual relations with the teacher through multiple messages sent via the popular messaging platform, WhatsApp. The police conducted their investigations, including necessary confrontations and inquiries, which revealed that the teacher had disclosed that the inspector intended to engage in a sexual relationship with him. The suspect, however, claimed that while he did send such messages, he was unaware of the identity of the person he was communicating with.
