This morning, Mohammed Salah Al-Khayr, the president of the Regional Council of Rahamna, was compelled to adjourn the scheduled session for the regular June meeting due to an insufficient quorum necessary for conducting meetings. Only five out of the seventeen council members were present, resulting in the absence of twelve members.
The session was set to commence at 10 AM, but only five members attended, including the council president, Mohammed Salah Al-Khayr, along with members Mustafa Rhamani (president of the Pahar Rahamna commune), Abdul Haq Al-Faiq (president of the Sidi Abdullah commune and council secretary), Fawziya Shato (the council's third vice president), and Nadia Rakitah (a council member).
In contrast, the remaining members, representing various political factions within the council, were notably absent. According to informed sources, this significant absenteeism is preliminarily attributed to a boycott of the meeting by some members, who expressed their reservations regarding the "management of council affairs." Others justified their absence by citing personal health issues and circumstances.
In accordance with the legal provisions governing local government operations, it has been officially decided to postpone this regular meeting to next Monday. The session will proceed with those present, following the applicable legal procedures.
The agenda for this postponed session included discussions and approvals on five key developmental and social issues within the region. Notably, these included a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture to conduct studies and develop road networks, an amendment to the management agreement for the traditional industry training center in Ibn Jirir, a partnership with the Am Rabee Water Basin Agency to protect the region from floods, an agreement to establish a regional platform for distributing in-kind donations, and a project to amend an agreement aimed at improving the road network across the region, covering a distance of 200 kilometers.
