Release of Minister Ryad Mezzour's Son Under Judicial Supervision
In a recent development, a judge at the court of first instance in Tetouan has ordered the release of the son of Ryad Mezzour, Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade, while subjecting him to judicial supervision. This decision comes in the wake of an incident where the minister's son was involved in a brawl outside a restaurant in the city, during which he allegedly insulted a member of the national police force.
The court has set September 23 as the date for the commencement of the trial sessions, where the charges against the young defendant include insulting public officials in the line of duty, disobedience, and disrespecting a legally established authority. It is noteworthy that the minister's son, who is a minor, was apprehended after authorities received reports of a conflict involving multiple individuals in front of a restaurant in Tetouan.
Following the intervention of police officers to resolve the disturbance, the accused reportedly directed abusive language towards one of the police officers present, resulting in his arrest. His father was present during the questioning, given that he is a minor.
