Significant Increase in Poultry Consumption in Morocco
The consumption of poultry in Morocco has seen a remarkable increase throughout 2025, with the average individual consumption rising to 23.6 kilograms annually. This figure has surpassed pre-pandemic levels, which stood at 22.9 kilograms in 2019. Such a shift indicates extensive economic and dietary transformations within Moroccan society. Data from the Moroccan Poultry Sector Professional Union highlights that this growth is reflective of urban expansion and changing dietary habits among the population.
Domestic Poultry Production Fuels Consumption Growth
National poultry production has kept pace with the increasing demand. By the end of 2025, poultry production reached an impressive 654 million tons, alongside 174 million tons of turkey meat. Hatcheries produced 542 million broiler chicks and 16.6 million turkey chicks during this period. Morocco ranks third in Africa for poultry meat production, following Egypt and South Africa. The contributions of these nations significantly impact the continent's poultry market, showcasing Morocco's vital role in meeting both local and regional demands.
