Royal Air Maroc Cargo Launches Direct Service to Los Angeles

Royal Air Maroc Cargo is set to enhance its North American presence with the introduction of a new cargo service that connects Casablanca and Los Angeles. This new route marks a significant achievement, as it establishes the only direct air link between Africa and the West Coast of the United States, operated by an African airline. The service commenced on June 7, 2026, and operates three times a week, utilizing the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which offers substantial belly-cargo capacity on flights between Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca and Los Angeles International Airport.

Strengthening Trade Connections Between Continents

This new cargo corridor not only connects Los Angeles with Casablanca but also integrates with Royal Air Maroc’s existing Beijing service, which was launched in early 2025. This strategic connection facilitates seamless transportation of goods between the US and Asia, utilizing Casablanca as a central hub. The airline anticipates a diverse range of cargo flows on this route, including artisan products, textiles, and perishables originating from Morocco and other African nations, as well as electronics and industrial products coming from China and various Asian markets.

Royal Air Maroc Cargo emphasizes that this new service significantly strengthens its foothold in North America, which is one of its primary cargo markets. It also opens up opportunities in high-value e-commerce supply chains while improving connectivity for trade between Africa, the US West Coast, and Asia. Rita Chraibi, the vice-president of cargo at Royal Air Maroc, expressed that the launch of the Los Angeles service is a crucial milestone in their strategy to link key international markets through Casablanca, thereby enhancing global trade connectivity for their customers.
