Enhancing Connectivity Between Spain and Morocco
Royal Air Maroc, the national airline of Morocco, has officially launched its new direct flight route connecting Bilbao to Casablanca. This initiative significantly enhances international connectivity for the province, reinforcing its strategic role as a bridge between Spain and Morocco. The newly operational route is part of the airline's ongoing expansion in the Spanish market, where it has maintained a presence for over five decades. With three weekly flights scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, travelers now have increased flexibility to plan their journeys.
This new connection expands Royal Air Maroc's network within Spain, where it already operates from nine airports and offers links to five Moroccan cities with over 80 weekly flights to various Spanish destinations. Passengers traveling from Bilbao can take advantage of the Casablanca hub, gaining access to an extensive international flight network that includes destinations across Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East.
The introduction of this route is expected to invigorate international traffic at Bilbao Airport and strengthen economic, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the Basque Country and Morocco. This comes at a time of growing demand from leisure and business travelers, as well as from the Moroccan diaspora. The inauguration aligns with Royal Air Maroc's strategic plan for international expansion, aimed at solidifying its status as a global airline and enhancing its Casablanca hub, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming 2030 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
