Safran's Significant Milestone in Morocco
In a significant celebration marking the 20th anniversary of its industrial site in Temara, Safran Electrical & Power has officially inaugurated a new extension at its facilities. This momentous event was attended by notable figures including Ryad Mezzour, the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, and Philippe Lalliot, the French Ambassador to Morocco. This expansion is not merely a physical enlargement but a strategic enhancement aimed at bolstering Safran's industrial capabilities to meet the growing demands of major global aeronautical programs.
Expanding Capabilities to Meet Global Demand
The new extension, which spans an impressive 5,700 square meters, brings the total area of the Temara site to 31,400 square meters. This increase in space is aligned with the ramp-up of both civil and military aeronautical programs, significantly enhancing Safran's capabilities in the design and production of electrical cables and harnesses. The site is responsible for manufacturing nearly 93,000 electrical harnesses each year for several key programs, including the Airbus A320, A350, Airbus Helicopters, and the H160 helicopter. With a workforce of over 1,600 employees, the Temara facility has established itself as a major player within Morocco's aeronautical industry and plays a vital role in Safran's global operational performance.
The history of the site began in 2005 with the integration of Gespec into the Safran Group. The Temara factory was inaugurated in 2006 and has undergone several phases of expansion to keep pace with the growth of aeronautical production and the development of new programs, culminating in the extension inaugurated today. Leveraging its industrial expertise and the ongoing skill enhancement of its teams, the site has become central to Safran Electrical & Power's production framework, contributing to the development of electrical connectivity solutions that meet the highest standards of the global aerospace industry.
As Serge Pons, General Director of Interconnection Systems Eurasia, stated, "This anniversary and the new extension reflect the trust that Safran has placed in Morocco and its talents for the past twenty years. Thanks to the dedication of our teams, the Temara site has become an essential link in our industrial framework. This new phase will enable us to support the growth of our activities and prepare for the challenges of tomorrow's aeronautics." Having established a presence in Morocco for over two decades, Safran currently employs thousands of individuals across its various aeronautical activities. Through this investment, the Group reaffirms its confidence in the Moroccan industrial ecosystem and its commitment to fostering a competitive, innovative aeronautical sector that creates skilled jobs.
