Strengthening Ties: Saint Lucia Backs Morocco's Territorial Integrity

This significant endorsement was made by the Foreign Affairs Ministers of both nations: Morocco's Nasser Bourita and Saint Lucia's Alva Romanus Baptiste. Their joint communiqué elaborated on this position, highlighting Saint Lucia's recognition of Morocco's autonomy plan as the sole credible and realistic solution to the ongoing dispute over the Sahara.
In their discussions, the ministers emphasized the importance of fostering stronger bilateral relations and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation that align with the aspirations and goals of both friendly nations. Furthermore, the communiqué commends the growing international consensus surrounding Morocco's autonomy plan, crediting the proactive initiatives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in this regard. Notably, the historic adoption of resolution 2797 by the UN Security Council on October 31, 2025, which enshrined genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty, was also acknowledged as a pivotal development in addressing the Sahara issue.
In addition to reaffirming their commitment to Morocco's sovereignty, the two ministers also discussed strategies to bolster regional partnerships, particularly between Morocco and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which is currently under the chairmanship of Saint Lucia.
