Saudi Tourists Drive Growth in Moroccan Tourism

According to the Moroccan National Tourism Office, Saudi Arabia has emerged as the leading exporter of tourists to Morocco, registering an impressive count of 41,537 visitors during the first half of 2024. This marks a notable increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2023, which saw 36,259 tourists from the Kingdom. The data reflects a robust trend in travel as Moroccan tourism continues to flourish, showcasing the country’s appeal to international visitors.

Moreover, recent figures from Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism reveal that the country welcomed approximately 7.7 million tourists in the first five months of 2026, reflecting a 7% increase from the previous year. Notably, May alone attracted around 1.7 million tourists, representing a significant growth of 13%. In 2025, Morocco had already welcomed nearly 19.8 million tourists, generating tourism revenues of 138 billion Moroccan Dirhams, indicating a dynamic expansion within the country’s tourism sector.

Exploring Morocco's Premier Destinations

These impressive statistics were highlighted during a media delegation’s visit to the Mazagan Resort, one of Morocco's premier all-inclusive tourist destinations, located approximately 90 kilometers south of Casablanca in the coastal city of El Jadida. Opened in 2009 with an investment of around $370 million, the resort spans 250 hectares and features a stunning 7-kilometer beach. It boasts around 500 rooms and suites, 67 private villas, 15 restaurants and bars, an award-winning spa, and one of the largest conference centers in the region.

In addition to its luxurious accommodations, Mazagan includes an 18-hole golf course designed by the renowned golfer Gary Player, alongside a variety of recreational facilities such as swimming pools, gardens, sports activities, and family-friendly programs. This blend of luxury and diverse activities makes Mazagan a prime choice for travelers seeking an unforgettable experience.

During the same visit, the delegation also toured the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, the largest mosque in Morocco and the second largest in Africa. Towering at approximately 210 meters, it ranks among the tallest mosques globally. Constructed between 1988 and 1993, the mosque features a design by French architect Michel Pinseau and involved the collaboration of thousands of Moroccan artisans. It accommodates around 105,000 worshippers and beautifully combines traditional Moroccan-Andalusian architecture with modern building techniques. The mosque is also home to a library, museum, and a school for Quranic studies, making it a site of cultural and spiritual significance.
