On Thursday, May 21, law enforcement officials from the Boukdara gendarmerie in the Essaouira region successfully apprehended a 17-year-old youth suspected of being involved in the possession and distribution of psychotropic substances. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as youth and minors.
The suspect was caught in the act with 30 tablets of the narcotic known as 'Rivotril' during a security patrol conducted by the gendarmerie. This proactive approach aims to curb the illegal drug trade and protect the community from the dangers associated with substance abuse.
Following directives from the relevant public prosecutor at the Essaouira court, the minor will remain under judicial supervision to facilitate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this case. Authorities are focused on identifying the source of these tablets before proceeding with legal action against the individual involved.
