Severe Weather Conditions in Morocco from Saturday to Tuesday
The Moroccan weather forecast has issued a warning regarding an impending heatwave, coupled with thunderstorms expected to occur from Saturday through Tuesday across several provinces. According to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM), temperatures are projected to soar between 42°C and 46°C in regions such as Assa-Zag, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd, Es-Semara, and Zagora. This alarming situation has prompted the DGM to issue an orange alert weather bulletin, highlighting the need for residents to take precautions against the extreme heat.
In addition to the scorching heat, moderate temperatures ranging from 38°C to 42°C are forecasted for provinces including Taounate, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknès, Khénifra, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Taroudant, Guelmim, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Settat, El Kelâa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Khémisset, Safi, Marrakech, and Ouezzane from Saturday to Monday. Furthermore, regions like Salé, Essaouira, Kénitra, Berrechid, Benslimane, Larache, Chichaoua, Skhirate-Témara, Nouaceur, and El Jadida are also expected to experience similar high temperatures on Sunday and Monday.
Alongside the heatwave, thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusty winds are anticipated in areas such as Ifrane, Midelt, Boulemane, and Khénifra on Saturday between 2 PM and 11 PM, with rainfall amounts expected to reach between 15 to 25 mm. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant and stay updated on weather conditions during this period.
