According to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) in Morocco, residents should brace themselves for severe weather conditions as heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind, are forecasted for several provinces on Tuesday and Wednesday. The DGM has issued an orange-level weather alert, indicating the potential for significant weather disruptions that could affect daily life.
Specific rainfall estimates suggest that areas such as Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, and Aousserd could see precipitation totals ranging from 40 to 60 mm during the period from 11 a.m. on Tuesday to 6 a.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the cities of Laâyoune, Es-Semara, and Tarfaya are expected to experience 30 to 40 mm of rain on Tuesday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., which could lead to localized flooding and other weather-related hazards.
Further forecasts indicate that additional thunderstorms will produce between 20 and 30 mm of rain in regions such as Guercif, Taza, Al Hoceima, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Berkane, Driouch, Nador, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Ifrane, and Khénifra, particularly from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
