Six Years of Imprisonment for a Security Officer in Marrakech Following a Minor Assault Case
In a significant legal ruling, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Marrakech has sentenced a security officer to six years of imprisonment after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor. The court also mandated that he pay a civil compensation of 60,000 dirhams while holding him responsible for the related court costs.
The case dates back to late August of the previous year when the father of a 16-year-old minor filed a complaint with the authorities, accusing the security officer of exploiting and deceiving his son. This complaint prompted the relevant authorities to initiate a thorough judicial investigation into the allegations.
The investigation began when the father discovered suspicious messages exchanged between his son and the security officer via the messaging application WhatsApp. The accused officer was part of the traffic division within the fourth security precinct of the area known as Mahamid in Marrakech.
Upon conducting a detailed inquiry, detectives from the Marrakech judicial police arrested the suspect, who was subsequently brought before the public prosecutor at the end of August. The prosecutor ordered that he be held in custody, and a judge subsequently ruled for his detention at the local Oudaya prison, following a request from the public prosecution.
Additionally, a technical examination of the suspect's mobile phone revealed incriminating conversations between him and the minor, further substantiating the allegations against him. After the judicial process was completed and the case was presented to the Criminal Chamber, the court decided to impose a six-year prison sentence along with the civil fine of 60,000 dirhams and the costs related to the case.
