The Spanish government has made a significant decision to continue implementing more flexible criteria for the validation of professional driving licenses obtained in Morocco. This move comes in response to the growing labor shortage in the transportation sector, which has become increasingly pronounced across Europe.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a parliamentary session, Spain currently faces a pressing need for over 20,000 professional drivers. This issue is not isolated to Spain; rather, it reflects a widespread trend across Europe, where the deficit of drivers has reached approximately 400,000 workers. The shortage is alarming and poses challenges for the efficient functioning of the transport industry.
In light of this context, the Spanish government views it as strategic to facilitate the entry of new professionals from abroad into the workforce. As part of this initiative, individuals who hold driving licenses issued in Morocco will no longer be required to pass a theoretical exam to validate their licenses in Spain. However, they will still need to complete the Professional Aptitude Certificate (CAP) and successfully pass a practical driving test to ensure they meet the necessary standards for operating vehicles in the country.
