Sources from the Spanish government, as cited by the newspaper "El Confidencial," indicate that the embassy’s internal advisory has detected messages urging individuals to take advantage of the electoral period as a unique opportunity to bypass security measures. These posts suggest that the elections on September 23 could present an exceptional chance for migrants to attempt crossings, reminiscent of the mass attempts witnessed in Ceuta on July 30 and 31.
Furthermore, reports indicate that the online calls for illegal migration focus on both Ceuta and Melilla, with a significant concentration on Ceuta. The embassy's internal advisory has cautioned about the likelihood of an uptick in these social media messages as the election date approaches. This situation unfolds in the context of previously circulated calls for similar migration attempts through social networks, including posts from August advocating new efforts to cross the border to Ceuta.
In response to the surge of irregular migration events, the Spanish government recently published 40 documents and reports detailing the human influx into Ceuta that occurred in late July. These documents included intelligence from the Spanish National Intelligence Center (CNI) and other relevant communications, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced in managing migration flows in the region.
