The President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, has made a compelling case for Spain to host the final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. He emphasized that Spain will play a pivotal role in the joint bid to organize the tournament alongside Portugal and Morocco, asserting that the nation will host the majority of the matches during this prestigious event.
Louzán's remarks come amidst Morocco's aspirations to hold the World Cup final on its own soil. During the annual UEFA security congress, he reiterated Spain's commitment, saying, "We want the 2030 edition to be the best World Cup in history, which we will celebrate together with Portugal and Morocco." He further stated, as reported by the journal Marca, that "Spain is poised to rise to this historical occasion and will offer the world a safe and unforgettable World Cup. We will host the majority of the matches and represent 55% of the weight of the bid, thus Spain is the rightful place for the final match."
Continuing his address, Louzán expressed unwavering confidence in Spain’s ability to ensure the security and success of such large-scale football events. He highlighted the country's robust track record in organizing significant tournaments, underscoring the Spanish national teams' achievements across various competitions, alongside Spain's extensive experience in managing major events.
"Spain is not just a football powerhouse; it is also a nation that provides the utmost guarantees for this sport," Louzán declared. He pointed out that Spain has hosted numerous matches and major events under the UEFA umbrella in recent years, including matches from Euro 2020, the Europa League final in Seville in 2023, and in Bilbao in 2025, as well as the Women’s Champions League final in Bilbao in 2024. Additionally, he mentioned that Madrid will once again host the Champions League final in 2027 at the Metropolitano Stadium, viewing this as another opportunity for Spain to successfully organize one of the most important sporting events globally.
Madrid is currently hosting the UEFA annual security congress on September 1 and 2, which sees the participation of over 500 representatives from clubs, national federations, and security experts, alongside delegates from the 55 football federations that are members of UEFA.
