Spanish Authorities Dismantle Drug Trafficking Network from Morocco

Spanish Security Forces Disrupt Major Drug Trafficking Operation

In a significant crackdown on criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, Spanish authorities have successfully dismantled a major operation responsible for smuggling cannabis from Morocco to Spain. The operation, which took place in Granada, led to the seizure of three tons of this illicit substance, underscoring the ongoing battle against drug-related crime in the region.

Reports indicate that the Guardia Civil, in coordination with the Spanish Tax Agency, targeted a sophisticated criminal organization that specialized in maritime drug trafficking. This network operated primarily from the Moroccan coasts, aiming to transport large quantities of cannabis to southern Spain.

This extensive operation resulted in the arrest of ten individuals and the confiscation of nearly three tons of cannabis resin. The investigation began in December 2025, focusing on the activities of a group known for using high-speed boats to transport substantial amounts of cannabis from northern Morocco.

The case came to light when authorities detected a fast boat approaching the shores of Granada last March. The boat's cargo was unloaded onto a beach, where it was subsequently transferred to waiting vehicles, ready to complete the illicit distribution process. Security forces intervened swiftly to halt this operation, showcasing their commitment to combating drug smuggling and ensuring public safety.

This successful operation reflects the continued efforts of Spanish law enforcement to dismantle drug trafficking rings and prevent the influx of illegal substances into the country. The collaboration between various agencies highlights the importance of coordinated efforts in tackling organized crime effectively.
