Strengthening Cooperation and Investment Opportunities in Marrakech
On the morning of Thursday, July 23, 2026, the Municipality of Marrakech hosted a high-level meeting that brought together officials from the Marrakech municipality and a delegation comprising officials and business leaders from Kazakhstan. This meeting was presided over by the First Deputy Mayor of Marrakech, accompanied by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Morocco, Sauleekol Saylaokezi, alongside key representatives and Kazakh businessmen. The primary goal of the discussion was to explore avenues for cooperation across various promising sectors.
During the meeting, Mohammed Idrissi, the First Deputy of the Marrakech Municipal Council, highlighted that the discussions spanned a range of economic, cultural, and social topics. The focus was on identifying strategies to enhance investment opportunities for Kazakh entrepreneurs in Marrakech, while also promoting the city as a promising global tourism destination. Furthermore, the participants discussed the potential for free trade to act as a catalyst for economic collaboration, emphasizing Morocco and particularly Marrakech as a gateway for Kazakh products and investments into the African continent.
Both parties underscored the importance of such meetings and the need for increased frequency, especially with the upcoming inauguration of an honorary consulate of Kazakhstan in Marrakech. This move aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and to promote the rich cultural heritage of both Morocco and Kazakhstan. Strengthening communication between the two nations will be fostered through reciprocal visits by officials and business leaders from both countries.
