This visit is significant as it will occur after Morocco's parliamentary elections on September 23 and before the commencement of France's presidential campaign at the end of 2026.
The groundwork for this renewed closeness between the two nations was laid during President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Morocco in October 2024, which coincided with France's recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara.
