Morocco and UAE Enhance Military Cooperation
In a significant move to fortify military relations, General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, welcomed General Issa Saif Bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, to Rabat on Tuesday. This meeting marked the participation of the Emirati official in the third session of the Joint Military Commission between Morocco and the UAE, which is taking place from October 5 to 6, 2026. Additionally, the session coincides with the Marrakech Air Show 2026, scheduled from October 7 to 10, 2026, as specified by a statement from the General Staff of the FAR.
During this pivotal meeting, both military leaders praised the advanced level of military cooperation achieved between their nations, particularly in areas such as capability development, defense industry, training, and the sharing of experiences and expertise. Following their discussions, the two generals co-chaired the closing session of the third meeting of the Joint Military Commission, which yielded a very positive assessment encompassing a wide range of activities across various strategic domains.
The military collaboration between the Royal Armed Forces and the UAE Armed Forces is rooted in a shared vision and a long-standing dynamic that began in 1980 with the signing of the first military agreement, further bolstered by a framework agreement in May 2006. It is worth noting that King Mohammed VI has repeatedly condemned Iranian aggressions against the UAE, reinforcing Morocco's stance on regional security.
