This meeting was a pivotal part of the second session of the Morocco-Germany Multidimensional Strategic Dialogue, which aims to enhance cooperation across a spectrum of sectors. Both ministers expressed their satisfaction regarding the robust and evolving relations between Morocco and Germany, particularly noting the positive trajectory established since the inaugural session of this Strategic Dialogue held on June 28, 2024, in Berlin.

The discussions during this session reaffirmed the commitment to furthering the mutual interests of both nations. The ministers outlined the objectives of this dialogue, emphasizing the importance of fostering coherence in bilateral cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration in vital sectors. They recognized the necessity of strengthening trust and understanding, alongside enhancing cooperation in political, economic, social, cultural, and security domains. This discussion served as a platform to reflect on the significant strides made since the adoption of the 2024 Berlin Joint Declaration, which has been instrumental in guiding the bilateral agenda.

Commitment to Sustainable Development and Cooperation

During the meeting, both ministers underscored the importance of celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Germany, highlighting seven decades of partnership and collaboration. They acknowledged the reforms initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI aimed at advancing Morocco's political, economic, and social development, which have been integral to fostering deep-rooted relations.

The ministers recognized the significant German investments in Morocco, particularly in sectors such as automotive, aviation, pharmaceuticals, and digital industries. They also discussed the immense potential for collaboration in renewable energy, specifically in hydrogen production and energy transition, and emphasized the importance of bilateral economic forums as platforms for enhancing industrial partnerships and promoting trade.

Moreover, the dialogue extended to critical areas such as human rights, with both ministers agreeing on the importance of continued cooperation within the UN Human Rights Council and the EU-Moroccan Human Rights Dialogue. They reiterated their commitment to support sustainable development initiatives and enhance vocational training and SME development through German investments.

In the sphere of cultural cooperation, the recent signing of the partnership agreement between the National Museums Foundation of Morocco and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation was celebrated as a step towards strengthening ties in scientific, educational, and cultural sectors. The ministers expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation in higher education and scientific research, emphasizing the necessity of further enhancing the enrollment of Moroccan students in German institutions.

Additionally, they committed to addressing climate change collaboratively, discussing strategies for forest restoration, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture. The ministers also recognized the importance of civil society in fostering dialogue and cooperation, pledging to involve regional and local authorities in the ongoing bilateral partnership. As they look forward to the future, both ministers reiterated their dedication to promoting peace, security, and sustainable development on a global scale, while also acknowledging the central role of the United Nations in these efforts.
