In a significant move to bolster diplomatic ties, the Foreign Minister of Greece, George Gerapetritis, and the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Residents Abroad, Nasser Bourita, convened for a pivotal meeting during Bourita's working visit to Greece. This visit marks the first time in over thirty years that a Moroccan Foreign Minister has visited Greece, underscoring the importance of this diplomatic engagement. During their discussions, both ministers emphasized the exceptional quality of relations between Morocco and Greece and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing political dialogue, increasing high-level visit exchanges, and deepening coordination on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
The two officials agreed on the necessity of translating this renewed dynamic into a revitalization and diversification of bilateral cooperation. With Gerapetritis's upcoming visit to Morocco on the horizon, the conversations also focused on drafting a roadmap intended to guide this new phase of cooperation, particularly in areas such as economic and commercial ties, investment opportunities, green energy initiatives, defense collaboration, tourism, maritime transport, as well as cultural, judicial, and consular matters. Furthermore, the ministers highlighted the quality of cooperation between Morocco and Greece within international organizations and emphasized the constructive roles both countries have played, both regionally and internationally, in promoting stability, security, and peace.
