Romania and Morocco: A Partnership Rooted in Cooperation
In a recent press statement following a significant meeting, Dacian Cioloș emphasized that the Kingdom of Morocco stands as Romania's primary partner in the North African and Middle Eastern regions. He highlighted the exceptional quality of the cooperative and partnership relations that have united both nations for several decades across various domains, including diplomatic, economic, and educational sectors. As a candidate for the Secretary-General position of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Cioloș underscored Morocco's important role within the Francophonie community, particularly due to its strong connections with French-speaking countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Promoting Francophonie and Educational Cooperation
In this context, Cioloș advocated for a Francophonie that adapts to the transformations of today's world, aiming to better meet the expectations of the youth. He stressed the significance of making the French language a vehicle of opportunity, facilitating access to employment, fostering entrepreneurship, and enhancing regional and international cooperation among French-speaking nations. The linguistic proximity and shared commitment to the French language have significantly contributed to the bond between Romania and Morocco. It's noteworthy that Romania is recognized as one of the most French-speaking countries in Eastern Europe. Regarding educational cooperation, Cioloș noted that over 1,200 Moroccan students are currently pursuing their studies in Romania, emphasizing the vital contribution of this educational exchange to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. Economically, he pointed out a substantial potential for cooperation, particularly in the automotive and construction sectors, where several Romanian companies have made investments in Morocco.
