In an official communication, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky extended his heartfelt thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco following a message of goodwill sent by the Sovereign on the occasion of Ukraine's national holiday. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco for his kind message and warm wishes to the Ukrainian people. We value the longstanding ties between Ukraine and Morocco and hope to expand our mutually beneficial cooperation," stated the Ukrainian leader.

In the royal letter, King Mohammed VI conveyed his warm congratulations to President Zelensky and extended his best wishes for progress and prosperity to the Ukrainian people, all within a framework of security, peace, and stability. The Sovereign emphasized the "distinguished relations" that bind the two nations, founded on mutual respect and constructive cooperation, reiterating Morocco's commitment to work together with Ukraine to strengthen and develop these relations across various fields of common interest, for the benefit of both friendly peoples.

Despite their long-standing friendly relations, bilateral cooperation between the two countries remains somewhat limited. Ukraine has taken a favorable stance regarding Morocco on the Sahara issue, having supported the autonomy plan during the recent visit of former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to Rabat. This indicates a shared understanding of regional matters and a commitment to mutual support.

Moreover, Ukraine is looking to boost trade relations with Morocco. The Ukrainian ambassador in Rabat, Serhii Saienko, revealed in a previous interview that his country aims to establish Morocco as a logistical hub for its grain exports to Africa. This proposal is currently under discussion, highlighting the potential for enhanced economic collaboration between the two nations.
