Successful Eye Surgery Campaign in Ait Ourir
On July 29, 2026, the specialized medical campaign aimed at diagnosing and treating eye diseases, particularly cataracts, concluded successfully at the Ait Ourir Community Hospital. This campaign took place over an intensive 18-day period, from July 11 to July 29, and was organized in celebration of the Throne Day, showcasing a significant community health initiative.
The event was spearheaded by the Charity Vision Foundation, in collaboration with the regional health and social protection delegation and the local government of the Al-Haouz province, with support from the Sond Association based in Casablanca. Before the surgical procedures commenced, a comprehensive diagnostic campaign was conducted at health centers across various communities, benefiting approximately 2,372 individuals. This extensive testing identified 700 cases requiring surgical intervention for cataracts.
Community Focused Health Services
A total of 595 successful cataract surgeries were performed at the Ait Ourir Hospital's surgical department, all overseen by a specialized medical team from the foundation, in coordination with the hospital's medical staff and numerous local volunteers. This initiative not only aimed to provide essential surgical treatments but also sought to bring specialized health services closer to the local population, particularly for those residing in remote areas.
Looking ahead, another similar medical campaign is anticipated in the coming months at the regional hospital in Tahanaout, aiming to expand access to medical services and cover additional communities within the province. Such initiatives are crucial in ensuring that health care is accessible to all, particularly those in underserved areas.
