Talisman Metals Unveils Promising Results from Tirzzit Project

Talisman Metals Reports Significant Findings from Tirzzit Project

The Canadian company Talisman Metals has recently published the results of a trench sampling campaign conducted in April 2026 at the polymetallic Tirzzit project, located 225 kilometers east of Agadir. This initiative focused on surface mineralizations of malachite embedded within the basal series along an estimated 4.6-kilometer corridor, of which approximately 700 meters underwent detailed sampling.

According to a note released on May 29, trench TZ-CH001 yielded an impressive 2.65 meters at 1.71% copper and 22.25 parts per million (ppm) silver, with mineralization remaining open at the trench's end. Similarly, trench TZ-CH003 intersected 0.94 meters at 1.11% copper and 6 ppm silver, while trench TZ-CH005 revealed 1.63 meters at 1.06% copper and 4.25 ppm silver. Across the entire 700 meters studied, the weighted average thickness reached 1.25 meters with a concentration of 1.21% copper and 12.25 ppm silver, alongside an alteration halo averaging nearly two meters in thickness.

CEO Highlights Potential for Expansion and Future Drilling

Tim McCutcheon, the CEO of Talisman Metals, perceives these field observations as indicative of "clear outcropping mineralization likely to reveal an extensive target horizon." He believes that historical data combined with the new sampling delineates "a mineralized horizon of about 4.6 kilometers with significant potential for extension both east and west." The Canadian executive is now contemplating a future drilling program aimed at demonstrating that "the mineralization continues at depth and widens in certain areas."

The seven trenches excavated along the 700 meters studied returned values exceeding the internal cut-off threshold set at 0.3% copper, with copper grades ranging from 0.75% to 1.74% and silver concentrations fluctuating between 3 and 22 ppm.

Sampling was carried out using sub-vertical trenches cut perpendicular to 30-degree inclined outcrops toward the north-northwest, employing equipment that mimics the diameter of an HQ drill core. The actual thickness of the mineralized intervals was assessed using a Jacob's staff. Six samples for quality control and assurance (QA/QC) were integrated into the campaign, representing approximately 5% blanks, 5% field duplicates, and 5% certified reference materials.

All samples were prepared and analyzed in the laboratories of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), where materials were crushed to three millimeters — with 85% passing below this granularity — and then pulverized to 75 microns.

The Tirzzit project spans 16.5 square kilometers across two mining permits. This stratiform polymetallic system embedded in sediments complements recent work conducted by Talisman on the Fougnar project, located 25 kilometers west of the Tizert mine.
