The Oman Football Association has officially announced the appointment of Moroccan coach Tarik Skitioui, aged 48, as the new head coach of the Oman national football team. This decision comes shortly after Skitioui parted ways with his position as the coach of the Moroccan U23 team, with which he recently achieved significant success, including winning the Arab Cup 2025 held in Qatar.
In a formal statement released by the Oman Football Association, it was confirmed that Skitioui will lead the national team in upcoming competitions. Skitioui's Impressive Coaching Career
Tarik Skitioui boasts an impressive coaching resume, having managed various clubs such as Moghreb Tétouan, RS Berkane, Al Emirates, and Ittihad Tanger. Additionally, he has experience coaching the Moroccan U23 national team and the Moroccan reserves. His playing career was also noteworthy, representing Morocco in 21 international matches and scoring seven goals. His professional journey included stints with renowned clubs like Auxerre in France, Willem II and AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, FC Porto in Portugal, and Ajman in Morocco.
As a player, Skitioui won several titles, including three league championships, a cup, and a super cup with FC Porto. He also clinched the African U-20 Championship in 1997. Transitioning to coaching, he achieved the CAF Confederation Cup title with RS Berkane in the 2019-2020 season, a bronze medal with Morocco's U23 team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the African Nations Championship title in 2024. His latest triumph was leading the Moroccan reserves to victory in the Arab Cup 2025.
