Teleperformance Expands Its Reach by Acquiring Unifitel
In a significant development in the customer relations sector, Teleperformance, a global leader in the industry, has acquired Unifitel through its subsidiary, Majorel Africa. This acquisition comes as the Crédit Agricole divests its customer service center located in Casablanca. Unifitel specializes in customer service, consultancy, and debt collection within the financial sector and is now fully integrated into Teleperformance’s operations via Majorel Africa. The transaction has been officially reported to the competition council, highlighting its strategic importance in the outsourcing market.
On paper, the acquisition appears relatively modest, with Unifitel SA being a Moroccan public limited company with a capital of one million dirhams, situated in Espace Masurel, Casablanca. The company is a part of Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility, a division focused on consumer credit. The acquisition covers 100% of Unifitel’s capital and voting rights, marking a significant consolidation for Teleperformance in the region.
Majorel, which was established in 2019 as a joint venture between the German company Bertelsmann and the Saham Group led by Moulay Hafid Elalamy, came under Teleperformance’s control in 2023 for an estimated sum of nearly 3 billion euros in cash and shares. This strategic acquisition not only solidified Teleperformance’s position in the Moroccan outsourcing market but also allowed Elalamy to gain a significant stake in the French group, where he and his company Saham Investments IV hold approximately 19.90% of the capital and 19.42% of voting rights as of March 2, 2026. Their involvement, while not aimed at achieving control, includes a request for a seat on the board of directors, indicating their commitment to the company’s future direction.
This acquisition further strengthens Teleperformance's footprint in Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa, where the Majorel brand has been absorbed under its umbrella. As of early 2025, the merged entity reported over 22,000 employees across this region, making it a dominant player in the business outsourcing service market. The competition council has focused on the services of business outsourcing, where Teleperformance already had a significant presence, making this acquisition strategically sound.
