The National Office of Railways (ONCF) has announced that temporary modifications will be made to train operations over the coming weeks as construction progresses on the high-speed rail line between Kenitra and Marrakech. These adjustments are also being implemented alongside enhancements on the conventional lines.
According to an official statement from the ONCF, these measures are necessary to accommodate the acceleration of construction work while ensuring safety and maintaining service continuity under optimal conditions. The adjustments will occur in two phases, with the first phase involving temporary changes on September 5 and 6, 2026. From 11 PM on Saturday, September 5, to 11 PM on Sunday, September 6, significant construction activities will necessitate alterations to train schedules on several routes.
To ensure that affected passengers can continue their journeys, the ONCF will provide alternative solutions and arrangements, which include the following: the rapid shuttle train serving El Jadida will have its route shortened to end in Bouskoura, with continued connections via Atlas trains; the rapid shuttle train from Settat will temporarily suspend service, redirecting passengers to Atlas trains; the rapid shuttle train to the airport will be temporarily replaced by Superatour bus services, and the direct train service between Safi and Casablanca will be suspended. Additionally, the train route to Khouribga will be shortened to end in Berrechid, with continued connections on Atlas trains, while Atlas trains will experience delays and schedule modifications.
During this period, the ONCF will enhance its communication system to provide timely information to travelers, helping guide them and facilitate their movements. The second phase will implement a new transport schedule starting September 14, 2026. Following an initial phase that began on September 15, 2025, the construction of the high-speed line between Kenitra and Marrakech will enter a new phase on September 14, 2026.
This new transport plan has been designed to align train operations with the construction constraints while ensuring that service continuity is maintained and minimizing the impact on passenger travel. The program includes adjustments to certain lines, changes in schedules, route reductions, and a gradual closure of some stations, including the Colleges Station and the Nasim Station.
To assist travelers in planning their trips in advance, the ONCF will announce the details of these modifications and their impacts on various routes starting the week of September 7, 2026. Furthermore, information and support will be made available at stations, aboard trains, and through the ONCF's digital channels to ensure clear and up-to-date information is provided.
These projects are part of a broader initiative to modernize, develop, and transform the national rail network, resulting in a more efficient and sustainable transportation network that meets future demands.
