The National Office of Railways (ONCF) has announced that there will be temporary modifications to train services over the upcoming weeks, as part of the ongoing construction of the high-speed rail line between Kenitra and Marrakech. Concurrent interventions on the conventional lines will also be taking place, necessitating these changes.

In an official statement, the ONCF clarified that these measures are required to facilitate the advancement of construction works, ensuring that safety is prioritized while maintaining service continuity under the best possible conditions.

The modifications will be implemented in two phases. The first phase entails temporary adjustments on September 5th and 6th, 2026. Specifically, construction activities scheduled to commence on Saturday, September 5th at 11 PM until Sunday, September 6th at 11 PM, will lead to changes in train operations across several lines.

To ensure the continuation of travel for affected passengers, the ONCF will provide alternative solutions and arrangements as follows:

  • For the rapid shuttle train service from El Jadida: The route will be shortened to terminate at Bouskoura, with onward connections available via Atlas trains.
  • For the rapid shuttle service from Settat: Service will be temporarily suspended, redirecting passengers to Atlas trains.
  • For the rapid shuttle to the airport: Rail services will be temporarily halted and replaced by Super Tour bus services.
  • Direct train service between Safi and Casablanca: This will be temporarily suspended.
  • For Khouribga: The train route will be shortened to terminate at Berrechid, with onward connections via Atlas trains.
  • Atlas trains will experience delays and alterations to their schedules.

During this period, the ONCF will enhance its communication system to provide timely information to passengers, guiding them and facilitating their journeys effectively.

As for the second phase, a new transport program is set to be adopted starting September 14th, 2026. Following an initial phase that began on September 15th, 2025, the construction of the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed line will enter a new stage from September 14th, 2026.

This new transport plan has been developed to align train operations with the constraints of the construction site, aiming to ensure service continuity while minimizing the impact on passenger travel.

The program will include, in particular, modifications to certain lines, changes in schedules, reductions in some routes, and the gradual closure of specific stations, including the Colleges station and the Nassim station.

To allow travelers to plan their journeys in advance, the ONCF will announce the details of these adjustments and their impacts on various corridors starting from the week of September 7th, 2026.

Moreover, information and support resources will be made available at stations, onboard trains, and through the digital channels of the ONCF to ensure that clear and up-to-date information is provided.

These construction projects are part of a dynamic effort to modernize, develop, and transform the national rail network, aiming for a more efficient, sustainable transport network that meets future demands.
