The Eighth Edition of Ultra Trail Amizmiz Set to Attract 1,000 Runners in May 2026

The Hous Region is gearing up to host the eighth edition of the "Ultra Trail Amizmiz" event on May 2 and 3, 2026. This annual gathering has established itself as a prominent fixture on the national calendar for trail running competitions, attracting enthusiasts from both Morocco and abroad. Approximately 1,000 runners representing 17 different nationalities are expected to participate in five diverse races that cater to various skill levels.

This event, organized by the "Trail Morocco" association, is characterized by its inclusivity, welcoming not only professional athletes but also amateurs, families, and groups of friends. Additionally, companies looking to foster teamwork through group sporting activities are encouraged to take part. The program features five main races, including a 90-kilometer ultra trail available for solo or duo participation, a 63-kilometer challenge spread over two days (42 km and 21 km), as well as 42 km, 21 km, and 10 km races. Some routes will also be accessible to hiking enthusiasts, allowing participants the freedom to choose a challenge that aligns with their abilities.

The organizers aim to promote outdoor sports while showcasing the natural and touristic potential of the Amizmiz region and the Hous area. Nestled near Marrakech, Amizmiz offers an exceptional sporting experience, set against the backdrop of the majestic High Atlas Mountains, with breathtaking landscapes and diverse terrains. This edition occurs in a unique environmental context, following significant rainfall in recent months that has revitalized the vegetation and added a special charm to the scenery. Some elevated areas still retain a noticeable snow cover for this season, creating a striking visual contrast between the peaks and the valleys.

The organization of this event carries a festive spirit, coinciding with the Labor Day holiday. Its activities extend beyond sporting competitions to include recreational and engaging programs for the audience, transforming it into a space for connection and experience sharing, all under a joyful and participatory atmosphere. In this regard, the governor of the Hous region praised the organization of this event, viewing it as an important initiative that promotes the natural resources of the region, enhances sports tourism, and involves various local stakeholders in a positive and sustainable dynamic. Furthermore, it plays a significant role in invigorating the local economy, valuing natural heritage, and encouraging rural tourism.
