Moroccan Police Enforce Traffic Laws: Over 52,000 Violations Recorded in Just One Week

In a significant enforcement operation, Moroccan police have reported an astonishing 52,102 traffic violations recorded in urban areas from October 12 to 18, 2026. This rigorous initiative, organized by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), resulted in the collection of over MAD 9.45 million in fines, highlighting the ongoing commitment to enhancing road safety across Morocco's cities.

The DGSN detailed that among the recorded violations, police officers issued 7,840 reports that were subsequently referred to public prosecutors, while an impressive 44,262 offences were resolved through fixed penalties. This systematic approach illustrates the extensive measures taken by law enforcement to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

Throughout this week-long operation, the police also impounded 5,549 vehicles at municipal facilities, withdrew 7,840 documents, and immobilized 603 vehicles during roadside inspections. These figures underscore the scale of traffic enforcement and the proactive stance taken by authorities to address traffic violations effectively.

This weekly reporting by the DGSN not only tracks violations and penalties but also emphasizes the administrative measures implemented to promote safer driving practices in urban areas. Such initiatives are crucial for reducing accidents and enhancing overall traffic safety in Morocco.
