Exploring Key Themes of the Future of Work
The upcoming Future of Work Forum Africa (FOWFA) will delve into critical themes that are shaping the future today, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generation Z, new leadership models, and the rapid transformation of various professions. Scheduled to take place on May 21 and 22, 2026, in Casablanca, this third edition emphasizes the city's emergence as a hub of skills and competencies on a continental scale. Wassila Kara, co-founder of the FOWFA, notes, "Casablanca is establishing itself as a regional center of excellence, driven by the presence of major companies' regional headquarters, a wealth of talent, and its ability to connect local dynamics with global challenges."
Casablanca Finance City, a longstanding partner of the FOWFA, places a strong focus on the excellence and adaptability of human capital as a key element of its attractiveness and the performance of its member companies. To further enhance this strategic lever of competitiveness, Casablanca Finance City will launch the Africa Finance & Sustainability Institute (AFSI) in the last quarter of 2026. AFSI aims to offer innovative programs that align with international standards in impact finance and responsible investment, benefiting the Casablanca Finance City community, Morocco, and the broader African continent. Abdelghni Lakhdar, Secretary General of the Casablanca Finance City Authority (CFCA), emphasizes this strategic initiative aligns with the shared ambition of FOWFA to actively contribute to the development of future skills and sustainably strengthen the African financial ecosystem.
A Forum with a Vision for Africa and Morocco
In a global context marked by profound transformations, the FOWFA has established itself as a space for dialogue, projection, and action, firmly rooted in Africa and propelled from Casablanca. Amal L. Alami, co-founder of the FOWFA, states, "Through the Future of Work Forum Africa, we seek to foster a vision of the future of work that is grounded in African realities while highlighting Morocco's identity as a land of innovation, dialogue, and convergence of talents." This edition is designed as an immersive experience, treating the forum as a journey that gradually intensifies engagement with real-world issues.
Before taking action, it is essential to observe and understand the ongoing transformations, articulate what is evolving, and align perspectives. The forum aims to facilitate discussions on decisions that cannot be postponed, emphasizing the need to accelerate progress without haste, regulate without stifling, and transform without destabilizing. It provides a platform for businesses, institutions, and experts to converge their viewpoints and illuminate the necessary choices.
Moreover, the forum will feature interactive and participatory formats where ideas can take shape through action. This initiative aims to foster experimentation and exchange, ensuring that the discourse on the future of work is vibrant and engaging. The partnership with ESCA (Ecole Supérieure de Commerce et d'Administration) further enriches the discussions and contextualizes the challenges at hand. Thami Ghorfi, President of ESCA, points out that technological transformations, geopolitical disruptions, and climate constraints compel organizations and their leaders to rethink the future of work. He invites discussions on new workplace relationships, the meaning of performance, and how to engage young talents, emphasizing the societal role of work.
Recognizing that the future of work cannot be constructed without the involvement of youth, the FOWFA actively includes Generation Z in its discussions. Houda Barakate, General Director of EFE-Maroc, affirms, "At EFE-Maroc, we believe that the future of work relies on inclusion and training for tomorrow's professions. As a key player in the 2025 edition of FOWFA, we contributed to the forum's success through enhanced youth participation, and we renew our commitment to making Moroccan youth essential actors in economic transformation."
